Dear Stanford University, UC Berkeley, Ian Hancock and all the other International "Intellectuals",
I was wondering, after all the hullabaloo -- is the international Romani Council still fighting about which tribes, clans, and companiaras are Rom? Are the Sinti still being singled out but kind-of included? Is the library still being compiled? Or has it all been an intellectual snobbery cluster fuck like just about everything else the community does or attempts to do? Are folks still trying to be so "pure"...only books written in the accepted dialect(s) of Romani language and with the right political spin to be included?
You know...that's why I created and published all those photo essays instead of writing literary essays on those topics...because a photo says a thousand words or some such bullshit...but still there was "misunderstanding" and subterfuge.
I have no expectation that any of my works would ever be included in a Romani Heritage library, or any other library for that matter. I'm not brown enough, or white enough, or skinny enough, or fat enough, or Muslim, or Christian enough, or rich enough, or poor enough, or clean enough, or dirty enough, or perfect enough, or imperfect enough, or Bohemian enough, or Square enough, or European enough, or American enough, or cool enough, or uncool enough. It's all bullshit. Evidently, Libraries are not fashionable enough anymore for anyone to care about thier cultural and historical importance. Rest in peace Mr. Dewey. ANYWAY...
Jax e mas...Merry Gyp-mas and Happy New Bottle of Booze and all that Gyp-shit.
